Upgrade from Office 2003 to Office Professional 2007 - qualifying products

I

IanKR

I want to upgrade to Office Pro 2007 and currently have:

- Office Student & Teacher Edition 2003 and
- Access 2003.

This site:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101754511033.aspx

indicates that both these products are qualifying products for the upgrade
version of Office Pro 2007. But I've found from searches on this ng that in
fact Office STE 2003 is NOT a qualifying product, even though the above page
indicates that it's only the Office XP version of Student and Teacher that
is excluded as a qualifying product. Is this correct, or is the information
on this page accurate, after all?

If Office 2003 STE is excluded as qualifying, does my copy of Access 2003
qualify for the upgrade version of the Office Pro 2007 suite, or only for
the upgrade version of Access 2007? I can't believe that qualifying products
for upgrade versions don't have to be like-for-like (i.e. Access 2003 ->
Access 2007, Office Pro 2003 -> Office Pro 2007, etc.).

Thanks

Ian

"Microsoft Works 6.0–10; Microsoft Works suite 2000–2006 or later; any
2000-2007 Microsoft Office program or suite; any Microsoft Office XP suite
except Office XP Student and Teacher"

When you read it carefully, there is *no* mention of Office Student &
Teacher 2003 being eligible for the upgrade.

No, it is not a qualifying program, as has been stated in this newsgroup.

Isn't it included in "...any 2000-2007 Microsoft Office program or
suite...", along with all the other Office 2003 suites? If it is excluded,
why doesn't it specify it as being excluded, as it does with Office XP
Student and Teacher?

Actually, yes it is. That was a somewhat last minute change (shortly before
Office 2007 was released). The 2002 version of the Student and Teacher
Edition is *not* a qualifying product.

(Several of us were caught unaware of that change.)

Thanks, but sorry - please can you carify what you're saying "yes" to -
XP/2002 STE *not* being a qualifying product (which I can see), or 2003 STE
*being* a qualifying product?

Very helpful, thank you. I have a new HP machine running Vista Home Premium
that came with a now-expired Office 2007 Home and Student trial edition. I
installed a valid licensed 2003 Office STE and both are now on the machine.

Questions:

1. Is 2003 STE a valid upgrade to 2007 Home and Student? (When I entered the
license number from 2003 STE during the activation process, the message box
said it was not a valid license number and I terminated the activation
process.)
2. If it is and I want to do that upgrade, how do I accomplish the upgrade to:
a. 2007 Home and Student, or
b. 2007 Office Pro
3. Where can I find out the price of each ahead of time?
