office 2000,2007 and windows vista on new machine

so i got a new laptop and dont want the trial of office 2007, i instead
installed office 2000. when i went to control panel to remove office 2007, it
hangs and hangs, and is still listed in program. when i open an excel file it
opens in "compatibility mode" and in excel 207, same with word.. i dont
want this version, how do i get rid of it completely?

You should have uninstalled the trial, before installing any other edition
of Office

PS OL2k has problems on Vista
