From sometime in the past few months, I've been having intermittent problems
with Office 2000 applications freezing when I save a file. When this
happens, the progress meter in the status bar gets to 100%, then the
application locks up and the entire OS freezes (not even the three-fingered
salute, Ctrl+Alt+Del, works), requiring a hard reset to restore the system.
So far, this has happened in both Excel and Word, both when I've explicitly
asked it to save a file and when I've clicked Yes in response to the "Do you
want to save the changes you made?" prompt when shutting the application
down. Once I've restarted the PC, I open the file again to check for any
damage, but it seems to have saved the file OK.
I am using Windows 2000, and have installed the latest service packs and
patches for both Windows and Office.
Anybody else had this problem? Any way to fix it?
