Office 2000 failing to install in XP Pro

Hi, I have just got a new Toshiba Tecra A1 notebook
running XP Pro and trying to install MS Office 2000 Pro.
However it seems to copy over the files but gives
a 'installation has been prematurely ended' message. On
reboot office iles have disappeared. Any ideas?
