Office 2000 not installed

I'm running Office 2000 Premium with Win 98. I had a problem with another
program last week and ran a disk defrag on my C drive. Now when I start up
the computer or try to run any office program I get the following message:
"This application must be installed to run. Please run setup from the
location where you originally installed the application." I tried repairing
and reinsatlling the program using Add/Remove programs. I also reinstalled
from the CD and nothing has changed. Please help.

Hi, SPD,

There's a Microsoft article that recommends using:

path\Setup /fv Data1.msi

This forces a couple of options in your installation.

/f is a repair, and v is to run from the source package and re-cache the
local
package.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;269276

It refers to a situation in a different operating system, but the fix might
still be the same. At least it won't hurt, because it's a specific kind of
repair.
