Office 2000 Runtime error

V

Virgil Smith

When I try to start WORD or EXCEL (running Win2000) I get an error message
with "Visual C++ Runtime Library" in the title bar. The message says:

Runtime error!

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more info.

Anyone have any idea how to deal with this? I tried a re-install of WORD and
uploaded Office Service Pack 3, but the problem is still there.

Thanks for any advice,

I also have this same error. I am running Office XP with Windows XP. I see
several messages regarding this problem, but no workable answers. This is a
relatively new install (reinstall after formatting the h-drive). There are no
macros, plug-ins, and nothing in the Office start-up directory.

Please let me know if you learn of a fix for this problem. I am unable to
use either Word or Excell.

Thanks,
cbp

I have the same problem, affecting Word and Excel, but not Access. I am
running Windows XP. I have re-installed Office, and done various diagnostic
tests on startup using MSCONFIG.

Internet searches suggest that many people are having this problem, but so
far Microsoft hasn't even commented on its existence.
