Office 2000 standard installation

I install office 2000 standard from the cd and went to download the updates
and after installing it,my wallpaper disappear and i can't install from the
cd again after i unistall the previous installation.I can't open up the CD
again.I did a system restore and was able to install from the cd
again.However,I encounter problems with my Word.The rest were alright.It keep
asking me to reinstall my word and to key in the product key.I keyed in
accordingly but get an error message saying that it is invalid.What should I
do?Can anyone help pls.

The key is on the cd case, a red/orange sticker marked 'do not lose'
Did you perchance have a version of Works on this sys, one that features
Word?
If this is the case it may be a version issue (Word)
Either uninstall Works or Custom install Office, leaving Word out
