office 2003 ent ed (msdn disc 2489) takes 72 hours to install

Hi,

I am having major probs installing Office 2003 Enterprise Edition from the
MSDN CD 2489. I am installing an a fully patched Windows XP Sp1a, and NO
other office installs. I have tried doing complete, custom & typical
installs all having the same effect. I have tried copying the CD contents
locally to no avail. This problem is consistent with a multiple desktops,
workstations & laptops.

Have I got a bung CD? or is there some patch I need for this?

The install does not report any errors, it simply takes freakin ages!

any suggestions much appreciated.

thanks in advance

It sounds like you may have a bad stick(s) of RAM or some other machine
problem. The CD should NOT take that long to install. What do you show
under Task Manager when this is happening? Is there some process eating all
of your system resources? How much RAM do you show installed under Control
Panel->System?
