Office 2003 Help - Missing 'Contents', 'Index', 'Search'

Shawn

Hi there,
I am a fairly recent Office 2003 user, and I am trying to figure out if my Help has
become corrupted, or if this is simply the way Help is in Office 2003, and I only
recently noticed it.
I can't get to a two-paned Help window in Office 2003 that has the familiar
'Contents', 'Index' and 'Search' tabs on the left hand. I can get the right-pane, but
there is no 'Show' icon on toolbar, which would normally bring up the left-hand
pane. All I get for icons are Auto Tile, Back, Forward and Print.
I have tried repairing my Office installation, but nothing changed. Then I tried
reinstalling Office, but ran into problems with missing files (Office had come pre-
installed on my Dell laptop). Then I tried reinstalling from the included Office CD
and the install fails, and I haven't been able to fix it.
Can anyone confirm that I should indeed have Contents, Index and Search options
in Office 2003?
Thanks,
Shawn

Hi Shawn,

Help in Office 2003 does not have an index tab and the default
is to use online help search (Help=>Customer Feedback Options=>Online)
as well as the help files you have Offline (on your PC).

Searching is done through the TaskPane in the Office apps.
Using F1 to bring up the Help Taskpane should show a
'Table of Contents' link near the top.
