Office 2003 installation error - MVP needed

I've been using Office 2003 happily for 7 months but this week it went
ballistic, and I was not able to use Outlook. It would open and then
freeze. Internet Explorer is doing the same.

The error messages told me to reinstall the program. But I can't
reinstall it and get the error message -

Microsoft Office Setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry
for the inconvenience. An error message occurred during the
installation, and Setup was unable to complete.

My main aim is to be able to reinstall Office 2003 and get it working
properly.

Failing that, I want to be able to retrieve and save the Inbox - as it
has emails with the product keys of programs I've bought online.

Can anyone help?

By the way, I've tried repeated to install Office 2003, and even with
stopping every other process that doesn't seem to be essential to the
operation of the OS ( I used Task Manager and WinTasks Pro).
