Office 2003 installation

Bill

I purchased Office 2003 with a new PC. Because of
Outlook incompatibilities, today I purchased Outlook 2003
from a software vendor. I want to install it on two PCs
(one desktop and one laptop) that now run Office XP,
which I also had purchased from a software house, to
upgrade the Office 2000 that came with those two PCs
(purchased in late 2000).
I want to do a "clean" install, ignoring all that is now
in the Outlook files on those PCs, starting from a backup
file from my "new" PC that came with Outlook 2003. Yet,
of course, I purchased the upgrade version. It appears
that, if I choose "upgrade", the older files will be
incorporated in the new installation. How do I do
a "virgin" installation?
Thanks.

I am confused. There is NO upgrade Outlook 2003. All Outlook versions are
full versions.

I get the impression that when I install Office 2003 over
Office XP, the Outlook files (calendar, contacts,
messages saves, etc.) will be effectively imported
(converted to the new file format) for Office 2003. This
is what I do NOT want to happen. I want to bring in
files from an already established Outlook 2003. [It is
easy enough to blank out some of the files such as mail,
but others like calendar seem more difficult.]

ALL of your Outlook items are in the same .pst file, nothing is segregated.
Again, I am confused by what you are asking.

Do you mean that you want to ignore the existing Outlook data? Just create a
new mail profile.

Sorry to have bothered you! The installation went
smoothly, and I had learned how to change the selected
data file from my new PC (in the repair shop now). [I
started with fear, given that upgrading from Office 2000
to Office XP so messed up my PCs that I had to reinstall
Windows as a virgin install before installing Office XP.]
