Office 2003 (any version) will only run on Windows 2000 SP-3 or Windows XP.
Previous versions of Office will run on most other versions of Windows,
except for Office XP which will not run (in most cases) on Windows 95.
Office is a business productivity suite that runs on top of your operating
system. For instance, Office 2004 will only run on Mac OS 10.x which is an
operating system. Open Office and Star Office will run on multiple
Operating Systems, such as Linux, Windows, Mac (only O

rg on Mac, not sure
about Star Office, but I think not.)
Think of this as a house/furnishing scenario. You need a house (walls,
wiring, roof, etc.) into which you can place furniture and appliances.
Windows is the house, Office is the furnishing.
