I didn't actually understand really who was being called a troll, the poster
who said "Don't feed the troll" was referring to the original poster for
using the word "windoze".

I couldn't understand it, however the original poster has not come back so
perhaps the "don't feed the troll" accuser was correct. I dont know.

Repeat, Microsoft does not produce any software for windoze. You will be
waiting a long time for that version to come out from a third party, my
friend. :)

I must be the dumbest poster on here. Howard, I dont mind if your a troll or
not. But we have now this issue, can you explain to us
did you originally intend that post as a troll post or not?

I can't personally see how it is a troll post just because you put in the
word "windoze" but someone else saw it. Can you tell us if you were having
troll like intensions please

So we can put this thread to bed once and for all.

Thats funny, but then I must say I rather enjoy the "microsoft onenote" that
was a rather nifty little addition. Not sure I would want to pay so much
more for it but it is nice and so "complete"

I do feel I would feel rather "naked and vulnerable" without office on my
pc.

I don't know anyone who was happy with Office 97 even when it came out.

Well I must say that I do use onenote, I like that alot, not sure what other
features I am using on 2003 that are not on 2000, is not some major changes
with the menus and styles, it seems that the menus pop up using roll overs
from memory...and few more nice features like that.

If you had read this thread, or even the first post of it, you would know to
whom I was referring. If that is not clear enough for you, it wasn't Millie,
to whom I referred, it was the obvious troll who started the thread.

Hi Ian,

I noticed the original poster has not come back and discussed anything to do
with any release of 2005 Office. Maybe your right mate.

I don't know anyone who was happy with Office 97 even when it came out.

I know several who are quite content with it and have no intention of
upgrading. Of coues, how satisfied you are with a product will depend
entriely on what you want to do with it. Some people just write, print,
and mail letters. Wordpad would probably be adaqaute for their purposes.
On the other hand, if you want or need the features that have appeared in
later versions, upgrading makes sense -- if you can afford it.

Microsoft gave me a free copy of Office 2000 when shortly after it came
out and I've been using it happily ever since. I did upgrade from 97, but
that coincided with my acquiring a new machine and moving from Windows NT
to 2000.

When Office XP came out, MS again gave me a free copy, but I wasn't
sufficiently interested and eventually gave it to my daughter, who finally
installed it on her new machine a couple of weeks ago. MS did *not* give
me a free copy of Office 2003. It's installed on one of the servers at
work, so I've had a chance to use it a bit. I find most of the changes to
be pointless differences rather than improvements. Outlook in particular
I find much dis-improved. So far I haven't seen anything that would
motivate me to pay the extremely high price of upgrading my home system.
Maybe when Office 2006 comes out ...

It would have been a genuine question without that.

It is laughably telling that you and a couple of other anal-retentives
took such offense at Mr. Howard's use of a very common nickname for MS
Windows. Not to rain on your little world, but Microsoft's products
and practices are not held in the highest regard throughout the world.

For those looking for a viable alternative to Microsoft Office, Open
Office is a compelling and free alternative.

Well, it's true, neither Windows nor Office nor any MS product can cure
polio.
And yet, you do seem to be hanging out in here for some reason?

Disparaging names and epithets are not encouraged here. If you want to rant
on Microsoft, might I suggest slashdot.org?

BTW, OpenOffice.org does not need advocates such as you - it tends to
discourage rather than encourage use.
