Office 2007 B2 Setup Error

M

Mike Harrington

When trying to run Office 2007 B2 I receive the following message:

"The language of this installation package is not supported by your system."

I download the english copy of O2k7 and run an english copy of XP-SP2 with
all standard English-US settings. Any ideas?

I had the same problem ... I think it was because I unzipped the
opplus-en.exe file onto a CD. I got the same error as you. Then I started
over, and copied the opplus-en.exe file onto a CD (not unzipped). I double
clicked on the .exe file, and office installed.

Mike,

Please find below is an extract from Bob Buckland's answer to similar issue
some else had posted. It is worth understanding that if you want to expand
the single source file into its composite components, then use the extract
switch, as detailed in Bobs extract - using a WinZip, WinRar, etc. will not
create the correct file structure.

Extract:

You can get this message from a corrupted Office 2007 download, items in the
registry missing after using a 3rd party registry
cleaner, or extracting the CD image from the Office 2007 download
incorrectly, among others.

Assuming this is the first 2007 Office product you're installing

===========
1. Use Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Disk Cleanup
clear your Internet files and temp files.

2. Locate your 2007 Office Professional Beta 2
download file and note the folder/path location.

3. Create a new folder on your PC and note that
folder/path location.

4. Use Start=>Run , and on a single line type in
the following (using the path & file names from Step 2 & 3)
and leaving out the brackets

"drive:\Step2PathOfDownload\downloadfilename.exe" /extract:"Step3path"

example: (assuming you saved to a 'downloads' folder and created a new
folder named Off2007ProB2CD1) the Start=>Run line would look
like this

"c:\downloads\OPPLUS-EN.EXE" /extract:"C:\Off2007ProB2CD1"

If the extraction is successful (you'll get a dialog box telling you it was
after a few minutes) then

a. Backup your files and shutdown all other running apps and utilities
including antivirus.
b. Run setup from your new 2007 Office system folder you
created in the previous steps

Else, if the extraction doesn't succeed then the download may be
damaged/corrupted.
Use Start=>Run and type
%temp%
and locate the Setup-xxxxx.log
(file) just created and see if it has any clues on where the extraction
failed.
