Office 2007 - customizing dialog each time apps open

B

Bob Becker

I posted this two days ago, and it is missing now:

I installed Office 2007 Pro plus on a fully patched windows XP machine.
Each time I start any application, I get the customizing dialog for 3-5
minutes. I have rebooted three times, and the dialog still occurs. If I
close the dialog, the application starts up properly. This does not occur on
other machines where this is installed. How do I tell office to stop doing
this? Is there a registry flag?

Please don't delete this again, or contact me if there is a problem with my
post

I had Office 2003 originally, which I opted to remove during installation.

I do have Visio 2003 still installed, as this is not part of the upgrade.

Well for what its worth, I have the same problem, although to be fair I do
have a full install (minus Outlook) of 2003 installed as well.
I posted a couple of weeks back, and apparently its a 'featurette'.

I have found a similar problem without having any Office 2003 installs (on
WinXP). I've tried both Office Enterprise and Ultimate installs without
difference. In Outlook I get additional error messages about the normal
template document and sometimes Microsoft Installer errors. I've tried tried
unregistering the msiexec.exe and associated files to re-register this
component. Outlook, Word and Excel all seem equally affected. I've searched
for hours for an answer without any success. Any ideas before I have to
revert to Office 2003?
