Office 2007 Installation

G

Gerhard

bought Microsoft Office Standard 2007.
Using Control Panel, I uninstalled Office 2003
Installed Office 2007 from disc, entered code key, accepted all user
agreements, and nothing works as I thought it would.

I have Vista Home Premium SP2, 32 bit OS, 2 GB RAM

Several scenarios:
WORD: Click on .doc document and WORD opens as usual.
Click on Word shortcut and this happens:
Preparing to Install (popup window)
Wait while Windows configues Microsoft Office Standard 2007
Gathering required information
Then works normal
PP: Click on .pp document and program opens (NOT viewer).
Click on Word shortcut and this happens:
Preparing to Install (popup window)
Wait while Windows configues Microsoft Office Standard 2007
Gathering required information
Then works normal
EXCEL: Click on excle document, excel starts (with popup "stdole32.tlb")
Click OK and
Wait while Windows configues Microsoft Office Standard 2007
Gathering required information
Then works normal
Click on Word shortcut and this happens:
Preparing to Install (popup window)
(with popup "stdole32.tlb")
Wait while Windows configues Microsoft Office Standard 2007
Gathering required information
Then works normal

Questions: What mistakes am I making installing Office 2007?
I installed from the same disc (I have 3 uploads) on my laptop and
everything works as expected.
I paid OMNI and their associates for service. After 3 days (they assumed
control) money is gone, NO fix.
I am NOT a computer wizard, but is it really that hard to upgrade from
Office 2003 to 2007?
Is the lesson her that if something works, don't mess with it? Can I go back
to 2003?

Anny hint would be appreciated

What do these statements mean?
I installed from the same disc (I have 3 uploads) on my laptop and.
(If you are saying you can install on 3 PC's, no you cannot, at least not
your version of Office)
I paid OMNI and their associates for service. After 3 days (they assumed

I need advice, I'm licensed for 1 desktop install, and 1 laptop install with
my Office 2007 Small Business, how can I buy a license to install it on 1
more desktop without having to buy another program? Thanks much.

My license from microsoft allows installation in 3 devices in the same
location (home in my case).

I paid OMNITECH (linked from Microsoft OFFICE Help and How to) for
assistance. They worked hard but apparently could not resolve the issue.

I purchased as a special for military personel which modifies the normal user
agreement to allow for 3 installs in the same home. Excluded is any
commercial, non-profit, or revenue producing business activity, or by any
governmental organization. (They are probably unhappy I put this stuff on
the internet)

You cannot buy an extra licence, in your circumstances, you would need to
purchase the complete boxed package

It would appear you have purchased the Enterprise version, this is supported
direct from MS, there is a link in MS pages for how to contact Enterprise
support - I dont have the url
If you paid someone for support / cure of your issue and they havent
fulfilled, go back to them

Have you fixed the issues?

The "Military Appreciation" Edition is not the Enterprise edition, it is the
Home and Student edition.

I contacted Microsoft directly and received an emailto verify Registry values
(all there) and set all to default permissions (that is how it was). No fix.
Then "Make Excel Unavailable from Maintenance Mode", which was done.
Restart computer, via control panel add/delete chose " Office 2007 and
select "Microsoft Office 2007 choose to run all from my computer". Still not
working as it should.
Keep in mind that if I let these programms reinstall themselves and
initialize each time, all work OK. If I click on a programm it goes thru the
same start up/initialization routine and then works ok.

It is now 28 August 2009 and my Office 2007 problems have been resolved.
After many days and many hours on the telephone, it was elevated by at least
5 levels of tech support in India. But now it works OK. Please don't ask
what they did since I can't remember all of the attempts. The quick summary
is that some of the install functions did not have the proper permissions to
allow for the installation and operation of the software.
