Office 2007 Installation

I have tried downloading and installing Office 2007 beta 4 times now, I even
tried in safe mode and it always does the same thing; It downloads and starts
installing with no problems, then about 10-15% in it says it has encountered
a problem and could not be installed. HELP!

and in the temp folder use the details view and look for the most recent Setup(xxxx).log file and see if it gives you any
information on what the issue is.

I serached for "Code 1601" on the forums, but could not find anything. I
tried again without installing Access, but same result (and same error in log
file!).

I am running Office 2003 (all apps closed when I try to install 2007) and
have tried Upgrade and Custom options with the same result. I have manually
extracted the OPPlus-EN.exe file and installed from than directory with the
same result. I'm about ready to give up getting this installed.

FWIW, the computer is a 2.8 GHz with 8.2 GBfree on the install partition and
23.6 GB free on the "install from" partition; I'm running WinXP Pro SP2, I
have 1 GB of RAM and no Page file. I have previously turned off and disabled
some WinXP services but have re-enabled and re-started anything that I think
could affect the install. Can anyone tell me what, if any, services the
install is dependent upon?

I serached for "Code 1601" on the forums, but could not find anything. I
tried again without installing Access, but same result (and same error in log
file!).

I am running Office 2003 (all apps closed when I try to install 2007) and
have tried Upgrade and Custom options with the same result. I have manually
extracted the OPPlus-EN.exe file and installed from than directory with the
same result. I'm about ready to give up getting this installed.

FWIW, the computer is a 2.8 GHz with 8.2 GBfree on the install partition and
23.6 GB free on the "install from" partition; I'm running WinXP Pro SP2, I
have 1 GB of RAM and no Page file. I have previously turned off and disabled
some WinXP services but have re-enabled and re-started anything that I think
could affect the install. Can anyone tell me what, if any, services the
install is dependent upon?

I serached for "Code 1601" on the forums, but could not find anything. I
tried again without installing Access, but same result (and same error in log
file!).

I am running Office 2003 (all apps closed when I try to install 2007) and
have tried Upgrade and Custom options with the same result. I have manually
extracted the OPPlus-EN.exe file and installed from than directory with the
same result. I'm about ready to give up getting this installed.

FWIW, the computer is a 2.8 GHz with 8.2 GBfree on the install partition and
23.6 GB free on the "install from" partition; I'm running WinXP Pro SP2, I
have 1 GB of RAM and no Page file. I have previously turned off and disabled
some WinXP services but have re-enabled and re-started anything that I think
could affect the install. Can anyone tell me what, if any, services the
install is dependent upon?

I have also had trouble installing 2007 on my laptop, running Vista BETA.
Installed and runs fine along side my 2003 install on my XP desktop box
though.
