Office 2007 Silent Installation

FunkyFish

Hello,
I'm trying to deploy Office 2007 Beta2 to some of the Corp. desktop at my
testing enviorment.
Using the Office Customization Tool (OCT) I have created a *.msp file that
contains all of the installation properties, including Product ID Key,
acception to the EULA, and most iportanat setting the "display Level"
function to "None" sicnce I want to create silent and zero touch
installation, and placed it in the "Updates" folder.
I have created a batch file at the logon script to each of the computers who
are designated to be installed with the Office 2007, so that when they logon,
they will be directed to execute the Setup.exe from the Network Share. here's
the problem: When the client launches the Setup.exe, a dialog box appears and
asks me to select the product that i want to install, im trying to make a
comlitly silent installation without have the trouble of going on each client
computer and select the product. NOTICE: after i choose the product from the
dialog box the installation strats as planned and for the rest of the
installation does not ask any questions...
is there a way to eliminate the need of choosing the product from the dialog
box and have a Complete silent installation?
Impotant: I have searched for answers to that problem and i have found
another post by Rob Grayson, which having the same problem, and I also
followed the suggested solution provided by Bob Bukland, but it didnt answerd
much..
any suggestions?

Hi Fish,

When there are multiple 2007 Office System apps in the Office 2007 Network Installation Point (Onip) [you don't need separate Onip
locations for different 2007 products] and you haven't defined any chained installation steps within the MSP file (tricky to
remember to maintain by that method), you can run Setup.exe on the Onip with the /Config switch to point to the Config.xml file for
a particular product, for example in the Pro-WW folder, to bypass the 'choose one' dialog for the user on startup.

[path to Onip]\Setup.exe /config \\server\share\Pro.WW\Config.xml

Note that to lower network use, or to spread things out, you can, prior to running a setup installation, separately precache
(deploy) only the Local Installation Source from your Office Network Installation Point (Onip) to client computers. The actual
client setup of Office 2007 is done from that LIS (MSOCache).

Hello,
I'm trying to deploy Office 2007 Beta2 to some of the Corp. desktop at my
testing enviorment.
Impotant: I have searched for answers to that problem and i have found
another post by Rob Grayson, which having the same problem, and I also
followed the suggested solution provided by Bob Bukland, but it didnt answerd
much..
any suggestions?<<

Bob,
Once the precache is there how does the setup from the network installation
point know to use the precached copy and not re-copy the install cache to the
client computer again? I have another post on this, I need to use SMS
package and advertisement to install office to collections after I have sent
precache copies to client systems. Now i need to know how to have the setup
use the precache and not recopy from the SMS advertisement. Does the initial
copy "see" the already existing precache and abort the download then
automatically start the execute locally?? Please help.
