Office 2008 Update path

Charles

I have lost track of which updaters are necessary to bring a new
installation of Office 2008 up to the latest level. Could someone please
enlighten me?

Thank you,

It depends on the vintage of the source DVD. Those that first shipped were
version 12.0.0 so SP1, SP2 & 12.2.4 would need to be applied in that order.

I'm not certain of the exact date, but later production DVDs were burned to
have 12.1.0 for which only SP2 & 12.2.4 are required.

You can take the guesswork out of it by simply running AutoUpdate using
Help> Check for updates then follow the yellow brick road.

Correction: In order to apply the 12.2.4 update you will have to have the
12.2.3 first ‹ I forgot that this latest one isn't a combo. Even so,
AutoUpdate will prompt you accordingly.

Thanks for this info--I know I could just run AutoUpdate, but I usually
like to keep the downloads available in case I am in a hurry to
reinstall, as sometimes happens.

Yes--and I see now at <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx>,
where I should have looked first, that the only downloads available for
Office 2008 (besides an Entourage one) are SP1, SP2, 12.2.3 and 12.2.4.
