Office 97 install after restore

Getting a message saying it's looking for qualifying product when this
program is licensed as a single product. Used to work fine before the
restore. Have original disk and packaging.

What you have is an upgrade apparently. When it's looking for the qualifying
product, you need to insert the disk of the previous version of Office and
point to it.

Ooops! I spoke too soon. I think something else must be wrong with my
computer. I have Microsoft Works and Corel and neither one will work. Besides
that, I don't think I need a qualifying product. My disk package says "This
product is licensed as a single product." To me that means it's not just an
update; it's a complete program as is.

You understand wrong. "Single product" means it isn't licensed for use in a
multi-user environment, TTBOMK. It''s licensed to you and you alone.

What does TTBOMK mean? Should the op post another entire question to
decipher a reply to her originals post? Ridiculous.

Pay no attention to Evadne Cake, AKA, Miss Perspicacia Tick .She gets her
kicks treating others poorly and laughing at their questions and misfortunes
in these newsgroups, providing no real help at all.

Looks like you are talking about yourself. What help have you given in this newsgroup apart from being a true uneducated moron. Grow up.

Don't like it? Tough. Go ahead and defend the rudest most obnoxious troll I
have ever come across. How do you know that I don't post to other news
groups? If you are a part of this group and let this troll have her way
that's YOUR problem now isn't it? "Grow up", a great argument to be sure and
I am not an adult because I don't put up with other people's sh*t, so what
does that make you?

"I didn't see him defending you..".

No you, of course. You are just "stupid a "moron", some of your favorite
names for others

Well, folks, getting back to the original problem...the front of the CD says
Microsoft Office 97 Standard Edition. It says nothing about being an update.
I still think I must have other problems with my computer. It also won't let
me update Windows and stays at 0% uploaded. I think maybe the browser is not
configured correctly. Would this cause Office 97 not to install because it's
looking for a qualifying product? It can't see my Works or Corel...

oh, sorry I thought you axed a question....sometimes you have to ignore Miss

It would tell you it's looking for a qualifying product and then prompt you
to insert the CD. Check the physical condition of the CD too...make sure
it's clean and not too scratched.

Ok folks, problem solved. My brother came over and told me what to do. I had
a newer version. I thought I needed the Office 97 and then I can use the 2000
upgrade. He said I didn't need to. He just put the Office 2000 disk one and
used the disk two as a qualifying product and it worked! Thanks to everyone
for all their help. Maybe my computer just has other issues because it's
giving me other problems I will address to this group.

Again, Thanks to All
