Office 97 Lost CD-Key

Kirt Cutler

I have Office 97 installed on an old PC and want to move
it to a new machine. Upon locating the installation CD, I
found I have misplaced the CD-Key code which I need in
order to do the install. How can I get past the CD-Key
and proceed with the install? I do have the office
program running on my old machine if that helps. Is there
a way to retrive the information from my old PC? Can
anyone help?

It's not possible to get past the entry of the Product Key without
entering it. The install program will just not proceed without entering
it.

Chris - I believe that the KeyFinder from magicaljellybean.com only works
with XP version of Office/Windows.

| Kirt,
| If you still have your Office product installed on another system try
| these links to retrieve your key code:
| http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
| Next upgrade (or if you are successful in rerieving your key code
| this time) be advised to make a backup copy of your key codes using
| word, excel or another program.

Actually, I should be saying that to you. You have been most generous with
your assistance here and elsewhere.

Hopefully, I'm correct in posting replies most of the time, and really appreciate the assistance from the MVP'S in the groups. Try and just listen in on the Pub-general, it can get very lively there!
