Office 97 Templates and Office 2003

We utilise Workgroup Templates across the organisation and have several
hundred Office 97 templates stored on our File Print Servers. We have just
upgraded all users to Office 2003 but since the upgrade users have complained
that some templates take ages (up to 5 minutes) to open. Is this a known
issue with Office 2003? If so is there a batch conversion process for these
Office 97 templates?
