Office '97

Hi, I had Office '97 Pro installed on my old computer running on Windows '95.
My computer broke and I replaced it with a computer running on Windows XP
Home Edition. I am trying to install my old copy of Office '97 Pro on my new
pc and it won't let me. It says it doesn't recognize any qualifying products.

Is there any way to install this on my new pc? Or am I out of luck b/c the
software is too old for my operating system?

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Your copy of Microsoft Office 97 Professional is an Upgrade Version.

This means that you must have a qualifying product (installed or not) to "upgrade" from.

Products that qualify for the Office upgrade
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/158069/

NOTE: Only the versions of Microsoft Works made before Microsoft Office 97 was released are qualifying
product.

An example of a qualifying Microsoft Works product would be Microsoft Works 4.0.

An example of a Microsoft Works product that would NOT qualify would be Microsoft Works 8.0 as it was released
after Microsoft Office 97 was released, thus Microsoft Office 97 Upgrade would not detect it.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;158069 explains the
primary upgrade eligibility. However, Microsoft has advised people that
have Works programs later than the suite that they are trying to upgrade to
contact Microsoft Product Support for assistance.
