Office Closes as soon as it's opened

As soon as any app in office 2003 is opened the application closes.
never a chance to do anything.

Office 2003 with all the patches, WinXP Sp2. Lots of hard drive space so
skip the clean up speech. Normal dot dot zapped. No luck.
