Office constant configuration

D

David Kelsey

I am sure this must have been covered before, but I've only just subscribed
to this group. Can anyone offer a solution to the repeated configuration
problem with Office 2000? I've reinstalled, and tried the repair mod - 'run
from this computer' - but nothing has worked so far. All suggestions
gratefully received.

Thanks a lot Chris - my problems are solved!

The Microsoft fixes in fact only worked for Access, which I never use, but I
tried a similar dodge with Word and Excel, and to my surprise, both worked.
The KB article says to rename the .exe file and the system.mdw file, but I
just renamed the .exe files. They did a configure just the once, and then
installed with no further reference to the installer. The other two fixes
offered did not work at all.

I don't know why I couldn't find those KB articles myself, unless it is
because my searches assumed Windows XP and the fixes were aimed at Windows
2000. Nonetheless, an option for XP was included in one of them. I don't
seem to be able to find anything in the KB any more.

Thanks again.

David Kelsey,
Glad I could help and thanks for the reply. FYI, next time it would be best
to post your Windows version & sp level and the same for Office. The more
information anyone has to go on, the easier it will be to get a specific
answer. Have a good day.
