Office failure after system upgrade

Denis

I have just upgraded the mainboard in a system. The XP Pro CD has run
"Repair" and the OS is fully updated.
The Office XP installation requires activation and "detect and Repair" to be
run however when I try and run the XP Office disk I get the error "The patch
package could not be opened. Veify that the patch package exisits and you can
access it...". I am logged on as the administrator, I have tried the disk in
two CD rom drives on this machine with the same result, I checked the disk on
another PC and it worked fine. I have tried running direct from the CD, via
the "Detect and Repair" menu in Word, and from the Add Remove programs
dialogue - all present the same error.

I tried to uninstall the Office XP installation and am presented with the
same error message.

Any ideas.

You receive the "This patch package could not be opened" error
message in an Office program
