Office Freezing Up

When in Excel or Word, I cannot open more than one file at a time without it
freezing up. I have to get out of the program before I can open a different
file. Also, when I am in Outlook making a new message through Word, I cannot
attach any files without saving my message as a draft, reopen then attach a
file?
