Is there a way you can look at office programs to see
what updates have been incorporated?

If you are referring to Office 2000 or later version installed on your
computer, you can go to:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx

Click on Check for Updates. After the scan is completed, you will be
provided with a list of available updates. On the left side of the page,
there is an option to check for installed updates. Check that and you
computer will be scanned and a list of installed updates provided. Note: if
a service pack/release has been installed that includes updates that were
originally released individually, only the service pack or service release
will be listed.

If you are just interested in service pack/release installation, going to
any Office application and checking Help, About will tell you.
