Office Install & Licensing Question

P

Phil

I've got a PC with Office 2000 pro and would like to upgrade to the latest
version by purchasing the upgrade retail box. When I install the new software
will the setup prompt me to remove the existing version??

Secondly, I have two pc's of which only one user at a time will access. Does
the upgrade license of Office pro allow the use on two pc's?? Or will I need
a second license?

Yes, it will remove it as part of the installation process.

You will require a second licence. The EULA states that you may install on
one desktop and one portable, on the proviso that: -

a) It is for the sole use of the primary licensee (i.e. you)

and

b) It will not be in simultaneous use.

So a family of four would have to have four computers and four licences? If
one has XP with various accounts and only the "primary licensee" can use it,
does this mean that Office has to be installed for each account?

| and
|
| b) It will not be in simultaneous use.

Does one have to put a web cam up so MS can check to see that this isn't
being done or do they, ahem, use the honor system?

You can install it on one desktop and one laptop as long as one is turned
off when the other one is on. Sounds silly to me but those are the rules
with Microsoft Office. Of course, in the real world, things can be quite
different.

So, what about four users with four different accounts on one computer.
According to Ms Tick, only the "licensee" can use it ... ?

Anybody that buys four licenses for four accounts on the same machine is
either crazy or filthy rich. Maybe someone of Bill Gates' caliber (or Miss
Tick?).

Most people can't afford one copy. Hence, pirated and cracked copies are
quite popular.
