Office Pro 2003 SP1 update fails

Office Pro 2003 SP1 update fails on Win XP with latest SP
& critical updates. I had an early release of onenote
SP1 which broke all updates, so I disabled Norton 2004
anti-virus, uninstalled and reinstalled office, visio,
project, onenote and business contact manager. The
regular updates then worked for everything except Office
Pro 2003. The admin update for business contact manager
also worked. The admin update for Office Pro 2003 SP1
also fails. I have lots of disk. Help!

I had a similar issue, so I download the client file and
the full administrator file, but still the installation
failed while it was looking at the configuration of the
current installation.

On another computer with a very similar installation there
was no problem at all.

Even though the update process claims to have failed, I
noticed all of the Office Pro 2003 applications except
FrontPage claim to be SP1. Are these applications
correctly updated and safe to use or are they missing
some components as the update claimed to fail? Online
update still claims I need to do the update. Help! -

I expect the Office pro apps are ok.

Log files are created in the '%temp%\ohotfix' folder that provide an
indication of what might be causing the installation to fail. The file you
want will have a name like 'OHotfix(0000x).log' where 'x' is a number. It
will likely be the most recent of these files. It should be a relatively
small file (mine is only 4kb), and if you attach it in a reply, I'll review
it.
