Office Pro install

Stephen Green

Should I remove MS Office 2000 (non Pro) before installing Office
Professional Edition 2003? What, if anything, should I back up when
un-installing/installing?

Thanks.

Stephen

Stephen Green,
Does your older version include all the applications your new version does?
If you have Office 2000 applications installed that are not included in your Office 2003 edition do not remove them. If you do, there might be problems installing any new updates (not applied to date).
Backup any files associated with Office:
Documents, .pst, etc... if there are problems with your installation. You could reuse them to rebuild your system if needed.

I currently have Office 2000 Small Business installed (Word, Excel, Outlook,
and Publisher). I also have FrontPage 2002. I have other MS programs that
aren't part of office, so I suppose I needn't worry about them.

Office Pro has Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher as well as PowerPoint
and Access.

I've got backups of all my data directories and Outlook's .pst file. My
instinct is that the install would go smoother after uninstalling the older
version. But I'd like to know if anyone has opinions one way or the other.

Thanks.
