Frustrated w/finding product key

I am very frustrated. I had to restore my Windows because it was messed up.
I'm restoring all my old program,s but Office asks me for my product key.
Since I bought it over the Internet I don't have a physical CD, and the
e-mail doesn't exist either. I have tried every key finder and none can
locate it. Does anyone know if there is simply a place you can e-mail that
has it on file somewhere? A person shouldn't have to jump through hoops to
prove they bought a product they purchased, especially when it was a screw up
with another Microsoft product that started this chain of events.

I don't know if these people can help you, but I suspect that they are the
only ones who could. Send them an email, or go to the web site and click on
Customer Service if you know the email you used when you bought the product.

You need to use key finders before you restore Windows.

"Don't lose this Product Key! You must use it every time you install this
software. So be sure to store this folder (or copy of email, whatever) in a
safe place."

If you purchased over the internet via an MS download you are given the
option to purchase a disk.
Any key mailed to you, together with any installation file should have been
backed up to external media.
Windows rarely gets messed up without user intervention or hardware failure
And if you have restored your PC any hope of using a keyfinder to locate
your key has gone

Jump through hoops? How difficult is it to print an email, or to
write down a product key from an email? There is this thing
called personal responsibility for your actions, or lack thereof.

Bought over the internet... downloaded from a pirate website over
the internet... semantics or revisionist history? If you ever
had a product key, and if you ever you used it to activate some
version of Office, then you would know that you were NOT asked to
enter your name or address when you entered the product key, so
how do you expect Microsoft to know that a particular product key
belongs to you? These are the facts: you don't have a disc, you
don't have a product key, you don't have a receipt, you don't
have any proof of purchase or ownership.

Keyfinder programs only work on programs that are currently
installed. If you had used a keyfinder program BEFORE you
restored Windows, then the program probably could have given you
the product key if you had Office XP, Office 2003, or Office 2007
installed. Again, personal responsibility for your actions...

If you had a free trial version of Office 2003 or Office 2007,
and if you paid to convert the free trial to a perpetual license
through Microsoft's website, then you might (no guarantees) be
able to get a replacement download and product key from

Re: Forms / Send to .....VBA or Macro?

I downloaded both of these utilities, and they are cool.

For the original "problem" that this post addresses, my solution was finding
the "hidden" product key, which is not part of the authenticity label. Good
grief. Microsoft documentation is 100% worthless in helping sort it all out.

Cheers,

I feel pretty stupid - but was going thru same thing w/product code in MS
Office 2007. It was already installed on my computer when I bought it Dec
2009 & there was no CD. I don't know where you would find the product key -
So I downloaded the Belarc Advisor - but here's the pretty stupid part... how
do you find or look for the product key in this? It shows all the info of my
computer, but don't see any product key info...

If it was preinstalled then likely it was a Trial that has expired
Your origonal receipt for the purchase of your PC would show whether you
paid extra for Office

Contact the vendor for your key.
