Due to some hard drive problems and migration to a new hard drive, I need to
reinstall Office 2003 Pro. When Setup runs I get a box with the message:

"Feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK again or enter an alternate path to the folder containing the
installation package '51375.mainsplop.msp' Use source default path is
C:\program files\office update11\cabs\511735\

After I canceling a message installation source for this product is not
available. verify that source exists and our can access it.
OfficeUpdate11\cabs exists, but is empty.

Help or suggestions?

Discovered a little more. I can start Wor by opening Winword.exe, but not
from a menu or shortcut. Windows Installer starts and gives an error message
telling to run setup and repair. Word then opens. If I try to run Detect
and Repair from the Help Menu, I get the initial message cited in my original
post.

I bumbled my way through this part of the problem, after finding references
to LocalInstallation Service and Windows Installation Cleanup Utility. A
missing MSOcache is preventing installation. If I don't find a solution
myself, I'll start a new post.

Hi Lar,

If the Local Installation Source (LIS) for Office 2003 that is stored under \MSOCache folder, then you may want to use the LISTool
utility to disable then rebuild the Cache.

The link to the tool is under Question 8 (Q8) in this article
