Listen, Microsoft already has about 10,000 official technical beta testers
(I am one of them) from whom they solicit feedback and bug reports. Many of
us have been using the betas since Alpha code. Sorry if your experience has
not been ideal, but what about BETA don't you understand? The Office Beta
front page clearly explains that you may have problems, do not install on a
production machine, backup your critical data, and watch for potential
corruption. Microsoft is not trying to enlist public beta testers - you are
a beta USER, not a tester.

So, what is Microsoft supposed to do? Come into your home and beat you over
the head with a clue stick? Did you also read the part about the software
being provided "As is, with no support?"

If you really want to see the "whiz-bang" features without actually
installing Office 2007, then try the Test Drive.

Insults... Nice... I bet "Wild Bill" Gates wouldn't appreciate your
representing him or M$ in this way...

Thanks for the added push away from the stable. So, all 10,000 of you
couldn't help push a better, more solid product out to the public? You can
call this what you will, but when you push to the general public, you are
attempting to build market interest and keep the propaganda flowing so your
sales will pay the bills. If the 10,000 of you were not able to catch
install problems, let alone functionality, this product won't go for another
year! Or, if it does, it will be as buggy as every other "FOR SALE" initial
version of M$ apps. Nice work and nice follow up, seems the clue-stick needs
to be sent in your direction a bit.

Next time read before you flame... I didn't use it on anything but a test
box, I suggested people give up and wait for a later version. As a developer
I would not want to piss of my Beta USERS with crap that would prevent them
from someday buying. I, as anyone who might really make a living from
programming, would want the Beta USERS experience to be as positive as
possible. You never know who might have some control over an International
company with more than 40,000 desktops. Beta is not a 'get out of jail free'
card when it comes to a customer's experience.

Oh and Milly, have a nice day!

front page clearly explains that you may have problems, do not install on a
production machine, backup your critical data, and watch for potential
corruption. Microsoft is not trying to enlist public beta testers - you are
a beta USER, not a tester.

So, what is Microsoft supposed to do? Come into your home and beat you over
the head with a clue stick? Did you also read the part about the software

If you really want to see the "whiz-bang" features without actually

Insults...

Oh and Milly, have a nice day!

the same tone constitutes insults - guess if you can't take it, don't dish
it out.

And exactly what do you expect the technical beta testers to do with install
issues (none of which I have experienced)? Storm Microsoft and hold a gun
to their head until they solve each and every install problem no matter how
arcane the hardware/software combination? It is BETA 2, not an RC and no
where near ready for public use except for those (like you) who want to run
beta code. Microsoft did not PUSH this out to the public - last time I
checked, YOU have to go to the page, YOU have to click on links, YOU have to
download, YOU have to expand the installation package, YOU have to input the
installation code... need I go on?

Take some responsibility and quit blaming everyone except that face in the
mirror when something doesn't go as planned.

Oh, and RandyH, thanks, you too!

| You can call this what you will, but when you push to the general

I don't represent anyone but myself. And I guess answering your post using
the same tone constitutes insults - guess if you can't take it, don't dish

No, you needn't go on, but I'm sure you will.

I dished it out???? When was that, when I suggested we "feel" for the poor
saps that had too much faith? Or perhaps when I suggested to others that
might have read the thread to stop looking until a new version ships??? I
hardly think that equates to "beating with a clue stick" and condescending
commentary from a shut-in.

Frankly, I think many of us "expected" some sort of guidance (sans the
commentary on how we shouldn't be using the product.) from those who have
suggested they were familier with the product and might have run into the
situation. Look around, you'll see a great deal of threads on the issue. Not
many people would expect a final product, but we don't expect to be hammered
for asking questions.

Stop feeling you need to defend and start adding value.. Better yet, just
pi$$ off!

Better yet, just
pi$$ off!

Oh, and RandyH, thanks, you too!

hardly think that equates to "beating with a clue stick" and condescending
commentary from a shut-in.

Better yet, just
pi$$ off!
