office scanning send OCR to Word does not work.

O

OCR David

Hello:

Running Office 2003 and XP Pro SP2

After I scan a document in Office Document Imaging it goes throught OCR. I
then try to send the text to Word but get stuck in a dialog box telling me
that the action cannot be completed because MIcrosoft Word program is not
responding.

I get three buttons: Switch to which sends me to a perfectly good looking
document 1 or retry which brings me back to the same dialog boxe and cancel
which appears to freeze everything.

Document 1 wants to know what to convert from and nothing results in
readable text -- not even the recover text from any document.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated. I am trying to get a 30+ year old
text document kept by my late father into Word.

Thank You

Occasionally I will have this problem with some documents. I have saved the
troublesome document as a .tif and then run it through the OCR in Document Imaging,
it seems to work.

I have a problem similar to the OP's, but in my case, when I try to
transfer to Word from the imaging application, a blank word doc opens
but then an error pops up that says the transfer failed and urges me be
sure Office is installed correctly... Search this NG for "OCR" for the
thread if interested. There is no resolution at the moment and we've
check all the obvious things so it appears that Office 2003 is fully up
to date. The original installation was via Dell on a 3-month old
machine. I have since tried re-installing with no improvement.
