Office Update fails to respond to the EULA's "Next" button

Further to my earlier plea for help . .
Office Update fails to respond to the EULA's "Next" button. Nothing
happens!! Up to that point all is fine, the required updates are
determined and listed. I am invited to download but I cannot get
past the EULA page. Windows Update works perfectly. Manually
installing Office updates works ok.
<<

When the EULA's "next" button appears on the problem systems, there
is a dialog box missing, the one that dispays: "I accept the terms
of the license agreement". This is normally just above the "Next"
button along with a check box . . . but it is not presented.

Hopefully this should give someone a clue as to how to clear the way
to use Office Update.

Someone suggested bypassing SBS2003 by joining the PC to the router
directly (and making the necessary IP adjustments) and logging on
'locally'' . . but it made no difference.

Thanks,

Jim Kelly

Greetings,

I'm helping a 15 seat site move to SBS2003. They already own 15 lics
of Office pro which is more than adequate for their meagre
requirements (mostly just Word). Many of the features of SBS2003
only work properly when using Outlook 2003 at the workstations which
is no doubt why it is included in the CALS. I have had a devil of a
time trying to get them to cohabitate. Logically one would expect
that a newer version of Outlook would simply displace it's older
version within Office 2000 and that should be automatic.

I have tried a number of scenarios without luck, including removing
Office 2000, installing Outlook 2003, and then installing Office
2000 without Outlook.

Weird things are happening, but one that may be easy for someone
here to put their finger on is that Office Update fails to respond
to the EULA's "Next" button. Nothing happens!! Up to that point all
is fine, the required updates are determined and listed. I am
invited to download but I cannot get past the EULA page. Windows
Update works perfectly. Manually installing Office updates works ok.

Server has twin NICs, and a D-Link router. Although we have Premium
Edition SBS2003 (upgrade), ISA and SQL have not been installed.

Anyone conquered this and have a procedure that works?

Btw, I have admin installed Office 2000 Pro on each PC (due to the
horrors of it's habit of losing the server link and never being able
to add any new features). This has worked well in the past.

Many thanks,

Jim Kelly

A breakthrough!
Tried connecting to a different ISP via a directly attached dialup
modem. The update process proceeded past the "Next button" issue
(there was never an "I accept" box . .). Daunted by the thought of
downloading 28mb via modem I cancelled and reconnected IE to the
network (still logged on as the local administrator) and started
again - it worked!

Now left with wondering if the problem is at the SBS2003 server, the
router, or at the ISP . . . (and, yes, I had thought to clear the IE
cookies and temp files).

Folks,

It turns out that I solved the problem of not being able to use
Office Update by setting the proxy in IE.tools.options.connections
to that of the ISP (in our case proxy.tpg.com.au) . . .

Cheers,
