office upgrade

R

roshak31

I have 35 computers on my 2003 domain they have office 2000 or office xp
installed on there systems which was installed by cd to each computer. I want
to install office 2003 through a gpo. I was able to install on a test
computer but it installs and leaves the old office as the default meaning if
I open a .doc e-mailed to me it opens in the older version of word not 2003.
I want to be able to install office 2003 as an upgrade to what ever version
they are using and make it the default what is the best way to do this?

Thanks,

Hi Mark,

You may find the information and tools in the
Office 2003 Resource Kit useful for deploying
to multiple computers (with a Volume/Enterprise)
license key using GPO.
http://microsoft.com/office/ork

Note that the default for an install of a new
version of Office is to remove only the applications
found from the previous version. Office 2000 had
apps no longer included in Office 2003 so you need
to set the Custom Installation Wizard to remove the
'not replaced' apps separately.

| I have 35 computers on my 2003 domain they have office 2000 or office xp
| installed on there systems which was installed by cd to each computer. I
want
| to install office 2003 through a gpo. I was able to install on a test
| computer but it installs and leaves the old office as the default meaning
if
| I open a .doc e-mailed to me it opens in the older version of word not
2003.
| I want to be able to install office 2003 as an upgrade to what ever
version
| they are using and make it the default what is the best way to do this?
|
| Thanks,
|
