Office Version GUIDs

C

Chris

I have assumed a semi large network that is running some
rather old software and I need to discover what versions
of Office are installed on the workstations. I have
written a script to scan for the Office Versions but it is
based upon the product GUID. I have the product GUIDS for
all 2000/2002/2003 products, but I don't for Office 97.
My searchs point to the fact that it may not be documented
in TechNet. Where can I find this?

Hi Chris.

Office 97 and earlier did not use the Windows Installer (Not created yet)
As such, the registry refers to it as Office8.0 in the Uninstall key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Offic
e8.0
The DisplayName key will show "Microsoft Office 97, <Name> Edition

<Name> = Standard, Professional, etc

File versions are 8.x for the core apps.

I hope this helps
