Office XP 2002 & .wps format

Windows XP Home and MS Office XP for Small Business 2002.

I received a file in .wps format, and can't figure out how
to open it. I've tried opening it in Word, get prompted
to install converters from my CD, then am unable to find
any converters that work.

What program created this file? MS Works? How can I open
it?
