Office XP Bus. Edition upgrade to Pro problem

T

Traci

Hello,
Office XP Business Edition v 2002, came installed on my
Dell when I bought it a couple years ago. I recently
purchased a brand new, never installed or registered
upgrade of Office XP Pro v 2002 and when I attempt to
install it, it says it can't find a qualifying product
for the upgrade. I tried to repair and also to reinstall
the Business Edition - to no avail.

Any idea of what the problem could be? I'm stumped and
sat on hold forever with Microsoft support and finally
hung-up.

Thanks,
Traci

Guess what? It can't find a qualifying product because...<FANFARE
PLEASE>...there isn't one! And, if you'd bothered to read the system
requirements, you'd have been able to answer your own question...but I guess
you're one of those people who doesn't bother with things like that. Little
details that mean you don't waste $350. Little details that mean you can't
be refunded because a) you opened the software and b) it was your fault.

You *CANNOT* upgrade between products of the same version as Microsoft
doesn't consider it an upgrade but a cross-grade and it is *NOT* supported.

However, if you are running Windows 2000 SP3 or later or Windows XP you
qualify for an upgrade to Office 2003 (for the cost of shipping) - *if* you
send in the order form - with proof of purchase - by the end of the month.

And then you can sell your XP upgrade on eBay...you won't get back what you
paid for it, but at least you'll get something - and you'll have learnt a
valuable lesson in the process.
