Office XP Pro upgrade fails

I have a Gateway notebook with Office XP SBE 2002, we
needed Powerpoint and Access so we purchased the Office
XP Pro 2002 upgrade, but the install fails because it
can't find a required Office XP.
Office XP SBE is already installed, and I even loaded the
original Office XP SBE CD, and it still fails.
Anyone have any thoughts on what's going on?

Thanks.

Loading a different edition of the same Office version is not considered an
upgrade but a cross-grade installation and is not supported.

Did you read the Upgrade package where it stated the 2 products eligible for
upgrade were Office 97 and Office 2000?

The package says one of the requirements is Office XP
SBE, but it doesn't specify the exact version 97/2000, so
I assumed it would work for version 2002.
Will I have to wait for version 2003?
