Hi Shelter,
If you are using Word on a network then you can
experience this if the printer in File=>Print is
not available or if you have used any network
drives that are not available when you start the
app. The delay then can be from the app waiting to
'time out' when it can't find the resource it previously
had access to.

Hi, I am experiencing this intermittent problem of Office
XP programs taking too long to load, something like 1 to 2
minutes. Other times it is almost instantaneous. Wondering
if any of you guys have any ideas why this is happening? >>
