office xp vs 2003

hi. looking for some advice. i am running office xp on my laptop (windows
2k, 256MB RAM) but i recently upgraded outlook to 2003 because i like the
side-by-side preview pane and many of the other new features and aspects. i
did not upgrade the other mso apps. so i was wondering if there was any
compelling reason to upgrade the rest of the suite. i primarily use word,
excel and powerpoint. if anyone can help me with the pros and cons, i would
really appreciate it.

Word must be the same version as Outlook to use it as your email editor.

thanks. i dont use word as my e-mail editor. anything else worth upgrading
for? i notice that xp apps take longer to launch that the old 2k apps i
used to use. would there be an even more significant slowdown with 2k3?

On clean systems used mainly for Office I see no difference in performance.
