OL 2003 does often double click when I click left

When I click with the left mouse button e.g. on a mail and then on another
mail (about one second later), often the mail is opened (yes I have not done
a double click, and the mouse works fine, because I do not have this effect
in other applications).
I have a mouse with 3 buttons and the middle button is assigned to a double
click. though I have set the double click speed to very high.

What to do against this! (I think about uninstalling OL 2003 and use Ol XP)
