OL98 - send before receiving - authenticate

Hi all,

My new host requires that outlook check for msg's before I
attempt to send anything through the smtp server.
OLexpress has the nifty little send/recv;send; or, recv.
option, but my OL98 does not. The check box for
authenticating the server first allegedly does not work in
OL98 (?) this according to my host's tech supt. Their
suggestion was for me to upgrade to OL200x ...

How about you all - any thoughts or suggestions?
