Old Email Gone? Help!

I was running Win 98 with Office XP. Win 98 crashed (Fatal OE Error). When I rebooted and restarted Outlook, all of my mail was gone but all of the folders were still there. I have checked for .pst files but all I find is one from last year (Jan 2003). I know that the individual mail messages are still on the HD but I can't find them. How do I go about finding the individual messages to restore them? I think I might be overlooking them somehow
