barflyatwork

when I open a word document, I used to be able to type part of the document I
was looking for (ex. 22059) hit backspace at that point to clear the rest of
the number hit enter and all documents starting with 22059 would appear in a
list. I had this capability with office 2000, now using office xp and can't
perform this. please help.

Hi barflyatwork

Yes, this functionality did change in Word XP.

In the File > Open dialog, with the cursor in the File Name box, try using *
as a wildcard, then press Tab. So t* will find all files beginning with t.
*ar* will find all the files containing the letters ar.

Hope this helps.
