Opening forms in multiple databases

I have two databases that work in parallel and I wanted to
build a switchboard that can open a form in either of the
database files. Is this possible? Will it require multiple
instances of access running at the same time?

Multiple instances of Access would be one approach, but synchronization will
still be tricky.

Is there a good reason why you don't just integrate the forms into a single
database?
