Opening multiple documents

MS Word used to open multiple documents in the same window. You could switch between them using "Window >> Document_Name". My office set me up with OfficeXP and Excel & Powerpoint have this type functionality. But Word opens up a different window for each document. Is there a way to change this behaivior?
