Opening Word docs in Outlook

When I try to open Word attachments for the first time in
Outlook it takes a long time (1 to 1 1/2 mins.) to open.
However, when I open the same attachment the second time
it opens immediately (maybe 5 to 10 sec delay). My mailbox
size is 217 MB and I am connected to an Excgange 2K
server. I am the only employee experiencing this issue.
What is causing this delay and how can I fix it?

While I don't know how to fix it, I think I can explain it. The first time
you open the attachment, Outlook must download it from the Exchange server
and place it in a hidden cache on your hard drive. Once it's there, the
attachment opens. The second and subsequent times you open it, the
attachment no longer needs downloading from Exchange. It's already in the
local cache and Outlook opens it from there, using much less time that
initially.
